Dr Yi Loo qualified from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2007, gaining the Terence Lipman Prize. Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of Edinburgh was achieved in 2009 whilst holding sought after hospital posts in restorative dentistry, oral surgery and paediatric dentistry at The Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She was then awarded the Diploma in Conscious Sedation, Newcastle University, whilst working in general dental practice and community clinics, exclusively treating children and young people referred for complex dental care.

Her quest for excellence has propelled her to Honorary Clinical Lecturer posts in paediatric dentistry at both Newcastle University and presently at King’s College University, London. She lectures extensively on postgraduate paediatric dentistry and sedation training programmes, and at conferences both nationally and internationally.

Dr Loo is on the Paediatric Dentistry Specialist Register of the General Dental Council. She achieved Membership in Paediatric Dentistry of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow following completion of a 4 year training programme at King’s College Dental Institute, London and the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Brighton.
Described as kind, thorough and detailed, she is now based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, providing care for children with medical needs and dental anomalies in the Evelina Children’s Hospital. She is also part of the paediatric team at St George’s Hospital in London, bringing compassion and expertise to her care for patients referred to the hospitals due dental anxiety or following traumatic dental injury.

Dr Loo is President-elect of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and Assistant Editor of the SAAD Digest, showing her dedication to advancing paediatric dentistry. She lectures on the STAC accredited SAAD National Courses for Dental and Medical Professionals. She is a member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, having achieved Distinction in Academic Practice, King’s College London.
